About Us

TMP’s Executive Director, CJ Martinez (he/him) is a newsroom insider and media relations veteran whose approach to content development, brand marketing, public affairs, arts and multimedia production is shaped by more than two decades of collaboration with likeminded entertainment and media industry professionals.

As a broadcast and cross platform expert, Martinez is an advocate for the practice of both Data and Structured Content and Narrative Development – that is, the practice of analyzing data in order to unearth new stories, and the turning of one’s storytelling or reporting into data that can be repurposed in any number of ways.

Martinez honed his expertise while assigning, managing and producing news media across national and Western US regional and local newsrooms, including ABC World News Tonight with Peter Jennings, NBC News – KING 5, KCAL 9 News, Hard Copy, FOX 24-Hour News and Channel One News.

Content development and analysis (non-fiction and fiction) for news, film and documentary production followed, including pre and post-production scripting, editing and messaging, field producing and events management, which evntually led to a brand marketing career in public relations and corporate communications. He has developed and managed earned and owned brand awareness programs and executive visibility media campaigns for Fortune 500 companies and subsidiaries, Inc. 5000 and Fast Company Innovation listers across multiple sectors and disciplines, including IBM, FedEx, Nokia, eBay, Home Depot, Best Buy, Mattel, Pepsico/Frito-Lay, Genentech and Pfizer. Martinez is passionate for all arts and many non-profits, youth education and empowerment organizations. In 2019, he created and transformed the role of strategic communications within Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF), at that time, a 85+ year-old performing arts nonprofit and the largest repertory theatre company in the continental U.S., also becoming thought partner and press officer to both the Festival and incoming Artistic Director, Nataki Garrett, the first female and BIPOC leader in the organization’s storied history. From the onset and throughout the global pandemic crisis Martinez planned and lead OSF’s external communications relevant to multiple executive leadership and staff transitions, government and industry affairs, local and regional community engagement, as well as the Almeda wildfire recovery and relief support efforts.
